Ivan Velasco is a Psychotherapist specializing in couples and family therapy; he maintains a private practice in Skokie, IL.
With over 15 years of experience as a marriage and family therapist, and as a graduate of Northwestern University specializing in Marital & Family Therapy, he is currently serving as private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among his areas of expertise are multicultural identity and Third Culture Kids.
Ivan has developed a uniquely integrative approach to Psychotherapy resulting from his special training and experience as a therapist and a religious minister. In addition to being a prominent relationship therapist, Ivan has presented at National and International conferences and to general audiences speaking on the topics of Couple’s issues, Parenting, Depression, Spirituality, Integration, etc. Ivan is an interactive and eclectic systemic-oriented therapist. His therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. He integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each customer. Ivan graduated with a Master of Science in Marital and Family Therapy (Northwestern University), a Master of Arts in Counseling (Trinity International University), a professional degree in Pastoral Theology (Seminario Alianza del Peru), and a Master of Philosophy (Universidad Catolica del Peru).
Ivan is licensed in the State of Illinois as Clinical Professional Counselor to practice the arts of Psychotherapy; and, is ordained as a Christian minister in the Presbyterian Church USA.
